Kabil was registered as a society under the Societies Registration Act on 21st December 2012.

The year 2013-14 was devoted to obtaining various necessary legal certifications, exploring opportunities for work and initiating action. Sir Dorabji Tata Trust (SDTT) was kind enough to partner with Kabil even though it was a very new NGO. SDTT considered Kabil’s proposal to work in north-eastern and eastern region to support 10 NGOs for 2 years and set up a pilot project on irrigation. Kabil also supported six NGOs during the year providing training to their staff, conducting studies for them and helping one of them design and conduct their annual retreat. Contacts were established during the year with the North East Rural Livelihoods Project (NERLP) assisted by the World Bank. NERLP engaged Kabil to prepare village level community development plans (CDPs) emphasizing on livelihood enhancement through Sustainable Natural Resource Management. Kabil made 11 village plans with intense involvement of the local community.
